Your Guide to U.S. Museum and Gallery Openings This Fall
This season, the nation’s museums and galleries are inviting visitors to meditate on collective experience, with exhibitions that explore interconnectedness and collaboration. Here is a selection of exhibitions from around the country.

KANSAS CITY, MO.
“Barbara Takenaga: Awestruck”

Featuring around 40 works from the past 25 years of Barbara Takenaga’s career, this retrospective documents the evolution of the artist’s approach to abstraction. Takenaga, whom Andrea K. Scott once described in The New Yorker as having “a mystic’s interest in how the ecstatic can emerge from the laborious,” is known for her dense, fractal paintings that are often said to evoke the cosmic and the cellular. This show explores four dimensions of her work: its process, its scale, its “embrace of illusion” and its “reverent nods to art history.” Through April 10; Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, kemperart.org
